103rd Infantry, 26th Yankee Division, WW1 Living History Group

Prior to mobilization of the U. S. Army in World War One, the 103rd Infantry, Machine Gun and Field Artillery units were formed of National Guard units from Maine , New Hampshire and Vermont and trained in Westfield Mass as part of the 26th Yankee Division in 1917. These units served with distinction in Chamin Des-Dames, the Aisne Marne Offensive, St. Mihiel and the Meuse-Argonne Offensives during WW1. The members of this unit carry the 1903 Springfield rifle, manufactured by the Springfield Armory of Springfield Massachusetts, and are kitted in the uniform of the US Army or in full U.S. Army Battle gear (for battle reenactments) as they would have served at home and appeared in the trenches of France during WW1.

Unit members are living history buffs who wish to keep alive the memory of our fallen heros and who gave the untimate sacrifice during WW1 (The Great War). Members participate in school presentations, parades, military timelines and reenactment events throughout the New England and mid-Atlantic states. This website has been created to inform everyone about the U. S. Army during the early 20th century.
